Trail Cam Tales and Big Pond Bass: Summer’s in Full Swing
Life’s been moving at full speed lately—but in the best way possible. With friends and family visiting, real estate booming, and the fish biting like crazy, we’ve been soaking up every moment. Here’s a look at what’s been going on in our world lately:
Fishing the Sturgeon River
Our visits to the Sturgeon River have been rewarding—though not always how we planned. We’ve been on the hunt for walleye, but the river keeps handing us a surprise lineup: perch, pike, rock bass, and a ton of bullhead. One unusual catch? A white perch—something we’ve never pulled from this area before!
Pond Life (and Fish Tacos?)
Back at home, the pond has been equally exciting. One of our young guests reeled in a 6-pound bass (with a little help), and it was awesome to see the joy on her face. These larger bass were originally added to keep the bullhead in check, but they’ve since become the apex predators—now nibbling at our trout, perch, and bluegill populations. It might be time for a few to become fish tacos…
Trail Cam Surprises
Our trail cams have been buzzing with activity. We spotted our first fawn of the year and have been catching glimpses of red foxes, turkey vultures, raccoons, and a lone coyote. Wildlife around here never disappoints—especially when leftovers and fish scraps keep bringing them in.

This morning’s rental run came to a screeching halt for a very chill gathering of turkeys sunning themselves in the middle of the highway. If that doesn’t sum up summer in the U.P., nothing does.
Real Estate in Full Swing
On the business side, our fully furnished rentals are booked and bustling—from lakefront retreats to trailside apartments. New guests are arriving, and longer-term stays are locking in. On the sales front, we’ve secured multiple contracts and have more offers in motion. It’s a buyer’s market heading into fall, and we’re excited to help clients ride that momentum.
Summer’s speeding by, but we’re enjoying every bit of it. Whether it’s fishing, family time, or watching the wildlife, we’re grateful to share all of this with you—and even more grateful that you follow along.
