Trail Cams, Grouse Hunts & Fall Colors — Autumn Adventures Begin

There’s something special about every season, but fall in the U.P. might just take the crown. Summer gives us warmth, long days, and lake time, but autumn brings its own magic — 60-degree days, cool nights by the fire, and colors that stop you in your tracks. Some of our favorite moments come early in the morning, walking two-rut trails for ruffed grouse, frost sparkling across the ground, and the woods so still you can hear forever.

Our trail cams remind us daily how alive the woods really are. The bucks have shed their antlers, but the does and growing fawns still wander through. The usual suspects — squirrels, raccoons, and that ever-present skunk — are always there. The wily coyote made another appearance, and this week we had a special visitor: what looks like either a fisher or a pine marten! We’re leaning toward fisher… what do you think? Either way, it’s a thrill to see new wildlife moving through.

With our side-by-side running smoothly again, it’s back to keeping the back feed pile stocked and capturing even more photos and video to share. Between the critters, the fiery leaves, and those crystal-clear stargazing nights, it’s a season to slow down, soak it all in, and celebrate what makes fall in the U.P. so unforgettable.

 Cheers to crisp mornings, electric colors, evening fires, and the wild beauty all around us.
