Lakes, Locks, and Listings: Another Day of Adventure

We started the day lakeside at Sandy Lake Lodge & Retreat, finishing lock swaps in the storage building. The lake was pure glass this morning — calm, quiet, and the perfect start to a frosty 28-degree Upper Peninsula morning. A little road hunting on the way in (and out) didn’t turn up any grouse, but it was still a gorgeous drive with the frost shimmering across every field.

From there, we made our way to South Range, where we wrapped up a few projects at the laundromat and checked on our Trailside Furnished Apartment. Plans are in motion to add a bathroom to the laundromat and convert the Trailside’s large one-bedroom into a two-bedroom unit, complete with a second half bath and extra twin beds — bringing the total sleeping setup to five beds (three queens, two twins).

Next up was a stop at the bank to check progress on a new project — something we’re really excited about but can’t reveal quite yet (no jinxing it!). Then it was time to move from our loan officer’s office to a conference room to finalize a closing for one of our clients, who just picked up their next investment property. Plans are already on the table to search out their next rental purchase as well!

After a well-earned lunch, we switched gears to the digital side — guest communication, tenant updates, and onboarding a few new real estate clients beginning their home-buying journey. There’s always something happening, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Tomorrow’s schedule? A lock swap at our Temple Street rental as we welcome a new tenant on Saturday, a check-in at Whispering Pines, a call with a traveling medical professional, and plenty more on deck.

Friday brings office time at Northern Michigan Land Brokers and a contractor meeting to finalize our South Range project plans before we cap off the week at the Chassell Trunk-or-Treat (5–8 PM)! 

Like, comment, and share if you love seeing the mix of real estate, renovation, and community all wrapped into one!
I absolutely LOVE frosty or even wet snow mornings in the fall while hunting! What’s your favorite part of late-fall in the U.P. — the frosty mornings, the color-fading woods, or the anticipation of that first snowfall?
