From First Guests to Fresh Tracks: December is Here!
December is here — and so is the snow! That means snowmobiles rumbling, skis hitting the trails, and ice anglers getting antsy for that first flag of the season. Even with a lighter snow start, winter enthusiasm is full throttle in the Keweenaw.
We kicked off this morning at Whispering Pines #3 — doing a final walk-through as we welcome our very first guest this afternoon! It’s always exciting launching a new furnished rental and seeing bookings rolling in right away. From there, the mobile office moved south through South Range where the trailers, trucks, and sleds already filled the streets — the diehards are out!
Next stop: Jake’s Bed & Bar. Renovations on the back half begin Monday, expanding group rental options just in time for the real snow dump. The trail access from Jake’s is second to none — and it shows with how busy the area already is.
Meanwhile, over at Sandy Lake Lodge, tomorrow’s guests have one thing on their mind… ❄️ Early-ice panfishing success! Ice thickness isn’t quite ready yet for wandering, but we’re hoping they get some tight lines and tasty fillets.
