Trail Cam Season Returns & A Busy Spring Ahead

A trail cam photo of a coyote popped through this morning — and honestly, it was the reminder we needed.

It’s time to get back to posting, back to sharing, and back to capturing what makes life up here so unique.

Now that we’ve pushed through the first quarter and wrapped up snowmobile season, things start to shift. Winter loosens its grip, life slows down just a bit, and the outdoors starts waking back up.

Over the winter, our cameras caught the usual suspects — squirrels, raccoons, a couple fox sightings, and even the Fisher making a few appearances. Now we’re starting to see that next transition with coyotes moving through, and before long the deer will be back as well. There’s still a fair amount of snow in the woods, but that won’t last much longer.

This week, we’ll be strapping on the snowshoes and heading back to:

  • Drop off feed blocks
  • Check cameras
  • Troubleshoot one solar unit that hasn’t been cooperating

We’ve also got a friend running some impressive trail cam setups — clear shots of eagles, coyotes, and even wolves. That’s the kind of next-level setup we’re looking to learn from as we tweak and improve our own system.

There’s always something exciting about this time of year. As the snow melts, you never quite know what’s going to show up next.

On the business side, things haven’t slowed much.

We officially closed on the Chassell Cabins & Campground earlier this month and have been moving quickly through the early stages of renovations and rebranding into:

Chassell Adventure Cabins & Campground

There are additional housing units on the property that we’re working through as well, and as the snow clears, the full vision for the property starts to come together.

Spring always feels like a build season — setting the stage for the summer ahead.

And if things keep trending the way they are, it’s shaping up to be another phenomenal summer here in Houghton County.

👉 What’s the best thing you’ve caught on a trail cam?
👉 Any tips or setups you swear by? Drop them below — we’re always looking to improve.

And if you’re planning a trip to the U.P. this spring or summer, keep an eye out — we’ve got a lot of exciting updates coming.
