Here’s the thing about living up here — it’s going to snow.
Sometimes as early as October, sometimes lingering into May, and historically… snow has been recorded in every month except August. Up here, that’s not a surprise — it’s a fact of life. And instead of dreading it, we embrace it.
In the Upper Peninsula, snow isn’t a nuisance — it’s white gold. It fuels our winter economy, powers our tourism, and creates the adventures that make this place special. When we see snow forecasts like this, we don’t groan… we cheer.

This weekend, many of our rentals are already filled with snowmobilers eager to get early-season miles in. With just a few more inches — especially that fluffy lake-effect snow — trails improve fast and winter really settles in. Snowmobile Dr. ordered it… and Mother Nature is delivering.
Living here means adapting, leaning in, and making the most of every season. Winter brings its own rhythm, its own beauty, and its own opportunities — and we wouldn’t trade it for anything.
