Do You See What I See? A Deer, A Yearling & A Hint of Spring

As I walked up to feed the deer this morning, I noticed two standing just inside the woodline—watching, waiting. A mom and her yearling. Their springtime hunger is real, and they’re quick to respond. This yearling was in the feed pile before I made it 20 feet away. We just started putting feed out again this week, and it’s incredible how fast they return—within minutes, they’re there, trying to make up for the long winter.

The ice is starting to break on the pond, and the rain has helped clear out most of the snow from the yard. That means one thing: spring cleanup season is here! With Easter weekend upon us, it’s a perfect time to pause, reset, and prepare for the busy weeks ahead.

On deck: MTU Graduation guests arriving soon, more traveling professionals on the calendar, and Jake’s is about to be reset and ready to rock. We’re also heading into an exciting real estate week—with one client closing on a beautiful 40-acre home and workshop in the Keweenaw on Tuesday, and another offer pending on a Hancock home with a second short-term rental unit. If it works out, we may help manage it temporarily while teaching the new owners the ropes.

Wishing you all a joyful, restful Easter weekend filled with successful egg hunts, full baskets, and maybe even a deer sighting or two.
