That’s Not Where That Goes! 🐻
One thing we’ve noticed this year is that the wildlife has definitely become more active… especially the bears.
Over the years, we’ve only had three or four bears wander through our property. This year? We’ve already had six or seven different visits, and last night’s visitor decided it was time to help itself to an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Apparently our pellet feeder wasn’t dispensing food quickly enough.
The solution?
Knock the whole thing over!

Needless to say, we woke up to a tipped-over feeder and one well-fed bear. It’s the first time we’ve had one actually knock it over, and while bears are generally much more afraid of people than we are of them, they certainly don’t realize just how destructive they can be while searching for a midnight snack.
The good news is the trail cameras were rolling, and we’ll happily take a few repairs if it means getting to watch these incredible animals up close. Every visit is a reminder that we share this beautiful piece of the Upper Peninsula with some amazing wildlife.
As if that wasn’t enough excitement, we captured another interesting moment on the cameras. One photo looks like perfect timing—a deer walking into the feed pile at the exact moment what appears to be a flying squirrel launched through the frame.

Sometimes it’s the planned pictures that are fun.
Other times it’s the accidental ones that become your favorites.
That’s one of the reasons we love having trail cameras around the pond. You never really know what’s going to show up next.
What do you think will be our next surprise visitor?
